Hi Pineda, was diagnosed (4+4 gleeson 8 stage 4 PSA 22) 2018, aged 68. Prostatectomy cancelled and offered various treatments except surgery. I chose ADT, which I have been having for 7 years now.

Happy with my choice.

-6 month Hormone jab (Lucrin) whenever PSA (qtly tests) 2> .Jab often lasts longer than 6 months ie my last jab was July 2024 PSA is on the way up now and I expect to need another jab after my December PSA test.

Side effects;

-nightly hot flushes (more so in summer)

-nightly bathroom visits

-some weight gain, hard to control

-some b***** e**********

Despite the above I am very happy with my choice. I am also obviously lucky to not have an aggressive form of PC, being able to control it so far. Have known a person diagnosed and died within a 2 yr period, so I donโ€™t have much to complain about.

Cheers, John

I know nothing about HT, but do a lot of research first. It changes

everything, and as I see it, the little I know it should be a last resort, and you must have great support. Coming here is a great start.

Hi Pineda3309

Thank you for posting your message on the Online Community.

Please refer to the below attached booklet from page 14 which lists

Another suggestion might be the MatesCONNECT program which matches men with a similar treatment experience. If you would like to speak with another man who has been through prostate cancer treatments and side effects our MatesCONNECT service can connect you to a trained volunteer who understands what youโ€™re going through. All of our volunteers have been through prostate cancer. You can get practical advice on prostate cancer treatments and their side effects. You can self-refer via this link https://www.pcfa.org.au/online-self-referral-form

If you need support, please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out to our Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse Telephone service.

You can reach us on 1800 22 00 99 (ask to speak to a nurse) or follow the link to request a call back https://www.prostate.org.au/nursing-support/ and weโ€™ll get back to you. Weโ€™re here to help.

Kind regards,
