Clinical Trials/Prostate Cancer.

Has anybody on these pages ever been involved in a Clinical Trial? What was your experience? How can one become involved in any Clinical Trial(s)?

I started the WOMBAT trial in December. I did some research and found it myself, then told my oncologist about it who promptly referred me to it and they called me later that afternoon.

One change from my normal appointments are there isn’t much waiting time when I have a trial appointment. It all runs like clockwork and they pay for my parking at the hospital.

I’d definitely recommend having a search of the trial finder sites and ask your doctor if you find one that looks like a possibility.

Hi ๏ปฟ@Hoover2648๏ปฟ,

While your waiting for other community members to reply, it might be worth reading through this recent blog which A look at current clinical trials for prostate cancer. This gives an overview of trial stages, design and access.

Also worth looking at are the two pages with the Survivorship Toolkit.

The first gives an overview and links to trials:

Clinical Trials

and the second discusses some research studies currently running that men may wish to consider

Consumer Research

There’s also two peer support options where you may find men to connect with who have participated in a clinical trial.

The MatesCONNECT service

and Prostate Cancer Support Groups these can operate face to face and in some cases virtually, such as the Advanced Prostate Cancer Support Group and PCFA Facebook Support Group page.

If you need help finding further information please don’t hesitate to call our Telenursing Team at 1800 22 00 99.
