Feeling isolated and invisible

Feeling isolated and invisible

Family members think I am focussing on prostate cancer too much and avoid the subject with me. Two weeks today I will be having Robotic Radical Prostatectomy.

do they realise that you need the support and it is a fairly significant event in your life. They will

need to support you when you

have your op. I think it is important to talk about it

Hello Vance, it sounds as if your family members are not comfortable having such conversations, which is not unusual. Ray has given great advice about finding a support group, and in the meantime, as Naomi suggests, the specialist nurse telephone service is an excellent way to find an understanding ear at the end of the phone. Wishing you all the best with your surgery.

Hello Vance. Is there a Prostate Cancer Support Group close by? You will find people who care enough to listen as well as support for the anxiety and practical advice from those of us with lived experience who are going OK. Google PCFA Support Groups for contact info.
