Good to hear its the outcome is positive so far. How long ago was it done? What was your MRI PIRADS score before and after?
Hi All,
Just thought i would let everyone know about the Nanoknife procedure. Recently diagnosed with localised Gleeson 7. Went to see a urologist that specializes in this procedure after doing some Dr Googling. This procedure was not mentioned by the first urologist i went and saw – removal or radiation was the only treatment offered!! I think there is a story there. The Nanoknife procedure entails them inserting two electrodes through the perenium either side of the tumour and then passing an electric current between the electrodes – effectively blowing up the cancerous cells. You are in and out of hospital same day, just have a cathetor for 5 days There is no blood in the urine, but some minor non-painful bruising of the testicles. A recent MRI has shown that the tumour is gone. Obviously there is an active monitoring program in place – PSA, MRI etc. This type of procedure is not really “out there” which is a pity. Long term success rates are still being collated as it has only been here in Australia for about 10 years. The downside is you have to pay for it. Not covered by Medicare or private insurance. Mine cost about $25K. In my case it was certainly worth it as i am only 57 and getting the prostate removed as such as young age i wanted to avoid.
