ADT
ADT
Gday all, I had a radical prostatectomy in 2022. Last year 2025, my PSA rose to .3. Had a Petscan and small pockets reacted positively towards cancer. I spoke to the Radiation Oncologist and
she suggested Hormone Deprivation Therapy, I had a 3 month injection and PSA went back to 0 and Testosterone to .6 which meant all was basically working ok. I am now 6 months of no treatment with another PSA test due next month. I really hated the side effects, I think all of them applied to me and I think they are still affecting me in many ways. Basically my question is how long do these side effects last as I am really thinking of not getting any more injections because of these side effects. Is radiation an option after ADT? I forgot, I am 81, in good health? , physically active, but constantly tired. Would be nice to hear of other Mens stories or suggestions. Thanks.

Hi Wiseman,
It can take 3 to 9 months and sometimes longer for the side effects of hormone therapy to wear off. In some men, they may never wear off.
Radiation can be a suitable option for the treatment of prostate cancer in many situations. It can be used prior to, during, or after ADT injections.
