Hi Mathis, I had 39 sessions back in 2023. It was a bit of a pain at the start getting into the habit of having the bladder full and the bowels empty for each session, but after a week that was fine. The main symptom for me was the fatigue that started about half way through and got a little bit worse be then end. It took a week or 2 after the end to feel somewhat back to normal. I also had some issues with loose bowel movements towards the end and afterwards but taking some metamucil sorted that out. Overall it was more of a nuisance that anything. But I lived quite close to the hospital and my partner was able to drive me each time so that made it quite a lot easier. I could have easily driven if I needed to though.

Hi Mathis7057,

Thanks for posting on the Online Community.

It might be worth checking out our MatesCONNECT program, which matches men with a similar treatment experience. If you would like to speak with another man who has been through prostate cancer treatments and side effects our MatesCONNECT service can connect you to a trained volunteer who understands what youโ€™re going through.

All of our volunteers have been through prostate cancer. You can get practical advice on prostate cancer treatments and their side effects.

You can self-refer via this link https://www.pcfa.org.au/online-self-referral-form

Feel free to call our Telenursing team for any help on 1800 22 00 99.

Kind regards

Tori
